Maurizio Ferrarese was born and raised in Italy. While in Italy, he worked at various hotels, resorts, and restaurants. Maurizio always had an interest in the culinary industry. He even had the opportunity to work for Villa D’Este and Touring Club Italiano.

Later, Chef Maurizio gained culinary experience working for the Four Seasons hotel in Italy, Europe, London, Florence, and Budapest. Since moving to the United States, Maurizio stayed with the Four Seasons hotel and worked in San Diego, Miami, Chicago, and Hawaii. Finally, in 2010 the Four Seasons brought him to Houston, Texas, where he became the Executive Chef.

His food philosophy is that every Chef bases their cuisine on their own experiences. Based on that belief, Italian dishes should be simple and composed of few ingredients, enhancing the natural flavors. Chefs inspiration for most of his dishes stems from family meals he vividly remembers from his mother’s kitchen in the small town in Italy where he grew up.

Chef Maurizio joined the Hotel Granduca team back in 2018. Since joining the Granduca team, Chef has won numerous food-inspired awards. He is always one of the top Chefs in the Risotto Festival as well as Truffle Masters. One of his signature dishes is his Winter Black Truffle and Lobster, truly a must-try if it is on the menu!

Executive Chef Maurizio Ferrarese is now living the life of his dreams, preparing award-winning dishes and raising a loving family in Houston, Texas. Maurizio married the love of his life in 2007, Whitney, Florence Italy. Whitney and Maurizio have four children.
